Divorce Without Litigation
Divorce can be a difficult and emotional experience, and sometimes it becomes unavoidable. However, the process does not have to be destructive. Dr. Parnell offers a collaborative divorce process that allows couples to obtain a divorce without litigation, preserving valuable financial and emotional resources. This process is also available for resolving other family law matters or creating related agreements, such as paternity agreements, prenuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, and domestic partnership agreements.
When a couple shares children, the collaborative process protects your children and helps you begin developing the co-parenting relationship with your spouse that your children desperately need. Throughout the collaborative process, you will have the assistance of attorneys, a mental health professional, and a financial professional who will work with you and your spouse to create solutions and outcomes that consider the interests of all family members.
Co-parenting Assistance
As parents transition from their personal relationship with one another to just their co-parenting roles, challenges can arise. Children do best with family changes when parents develop strategies to communicate, solve problems, and reduce conflict. Dr. Parnell can provide joint co-parenting guidance and individual co-parenting guidance regarding minor or adult children whose parents are no longer in a relationship. She can also provide education or assistance with the parenting plan for minor children.
Mediation
Mediation provides an opportunity for people who are having a dispute to talk about their concerns and to make decisions about how to resolve the dispute with the help of a neutral professional called a mediator. A mediator will not decide who is right or wrong or tell you how to resolve your dispute. The mediator will guide the conversation to help you find solutions that make sense to you and the other person. In mediation, you can resolve some or all of your concerns. Any issues that can be addressed in mediation do not need to be decided by a judge.
