What to Expect
During your initial visit, you'll undergo a comprehensive evaluation consisting of subjective and objective information through a comprehensive interview, medical history, and functional testing protocols. Based on the findings of the initial evaluation, your therapist will develop a personalized plan of care to address your specific needs and goals. Your treatment plan may include a combination of modalities, manual therapy, stretching and joint mobilization, upper and lower body functional training, balance and proprioceptive training, strengthening and stability exercises, and postural training.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a prescription from my doctor for physical therapy treatment? While licensed physical therapists in New York State may treat patients for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first, without a prescription, it is recommended to have a prescription. No Fault, Worker's Compensation, and Medicare still require a prescription.
How long is each appointment and how often will I need to attend physical therapy? The average treatment session is approximately 1 hour, with treatment times varying based on individual needs and diagnosis. Frequency and duration of physical therapy are based on the doctor's prescription and therapist evaluation - typically two to three times per week for four to six weeks.
Who will perform the physical therapy treatments on me? A licensed physical therapist will perform your initial evaluation and will follow up with your care. We recommend that the same therapist treats you throughout the duration of your physical therapy at Pegasus.
