Our Story

Georgene's Haven has been a beloved destination on beautiful Bowstring Lake in Northern Minnesota since 1967. Since its inception, our family-owned and operated resort has been dedicated to providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for anglers and families alike. Nestled in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest, Georgene's Haven offers more than just excellent fishing; it provides an opportunity to connect with nature, enjoy quality time with loved ones, and create lasting memories.

Bowstring Lake, a sprawling expanse of over 9,000 acres, is renowned for its exceptional fishing. Anglers flock to its depths to reel in trophy-sized walleye, perch, crappie, and northern pike. The lake's pristine waters, abundant underwater structures, and healthy fish populations make it a sought-after angling destination. Bowstring Lake has earned a special place in the hearts of fishing aficionados, including renowned outdoorsman Ron Schara, who considers it one of his favorite fishing spots.

Younger guests will delight in the playground with swings, a sandbox, and other outdoor play equipment. The grassy areas around the lake provide ample space for games like tetherball, badminton, and horseshoes, while fire pits create a warm ambiance for evening gatherings.

Our Cabins

We take pride in our seven modern, clean, and spacious cabins. Each cabin is thoughtfully furnished to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay for our guests.

All our cabins are equipped with everything you need for a memorable experience, including fully equipped kitchens, cozy beds, and comfortable seating areas.

We also offer the convenience of monthly cabin rentals, providing a cost-effective option for those seeking a longer stay.

To ensure our guests have a truly relaxing and hassle-free vacation, we kindly request that guests bring their own personal towels and dish towels.

Campground Retreat

For those who prefer the rustic charm of camping, Georgene's Haven offers a delightful campground. Our campground is limited to five units at a time, ensuring a peaceful and secluded retreat amidst the beauty of the Chippewa National Forest.

Each camping site features electricity and water hookups, making your stay both comfortable and convenient.

Our campground amenities include an indoor bath and shower area, ensuring a refreshing experience after a day of exploring the great outdoors. Newly constructed camper bathrooms provide additional comfort and convenience for our campers. Enjoy stunning lake views right from your campsite, and gather around a crackling fire pit for evening storytelling and stargazing.
