Meet Our Instructors

At Dexter Music, we pride ourselves on our team of dedicated and passionate instructors. They are not just skilled musicians but also caring individuals who understand the importance of building a strong relationship with their students. They believe in creating a supportive environment where students can grow and develop their musical talents.

Our instructors include individuals like Emmanuel Mora, who is a seasoned instructor with a wide range of musical skills. He has been teaching music privately since 2013 and in several OC high schools since 2015. He is a multi-instrumentalist and can teach drums, guitar, piano, voice, and violin, as well as recording and production.

Angele Nalbandian is another one of our talented instructors. She started playing the piano at the age of four and continued to play the liturgical services at church on the pipe organ at the age of ten. She attended the University of Massachusetts Music School for piano performance, theory, and harmony and voice instruction. Her passion for music and caring personality make her perfect for students of all ages.

Leah Gates is also part of our team. She holds a bachelor's degree in General Music with a focus in Vocal Performance. She loves to teach musical theater, pop, Disney, jazz, and classical songs. Her absolute joy is to see her students find a love for music and grow in their confidence with both their voice and piano skills.

Josef Kay, a native of Santa Cruz, California, has over two decades of experience studying, performing, and recording music. He has Masters Degrees from the University of California, where he is currently a lecturer. He has taught guitar, bass, drum, woodwind, and piano lessons with Dexter Music since 2018.

Shooka Afshar, a classical opera singer from Iran, is another talented instructor on our team. She holds a Master's degree in Classical Vocal Performance from Longy School of Music in Boston. She composed an opera based on her life story, portraying women who overcome extreme challenges and break free of society's chains. Her opera, Women / Immigration / Fight or Flight, premiered at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston online in March 2021.

Finally, we have Calista Domingcil, who fell in love with music at the age of eight. She is a trained vocalist and pianist who has been teaching music since 2010. She believes that music is a universal language that can bring people together and provide an outlet for self-expression.
