Context, LLC, was founded by Melissa Cohen in 1999, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional design services that meet the unique needs of our clients. Our journey began in New York City, where our founder, Melissa, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology with a BFA in Interior Design, has worked tirelessly to establish a reputation for excellence in the world of interior design.

Designing with a Personal Touch

With a background in fine art and model making for film, TV, and architecture firms, Melissa brings a unique perspective to her design work. Her experience in the international art scene, following an art grant in 1990, has influenced her approach to design, focusing on site-specific projects and socially conscious object-making. This rich history has allowed her to develop a design process that is both subjective and analytical, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with clients.

• Residential Remodeling and Interior Design: We understand that every project is unique and that all components must work hand in hand to create a successful outcome. Our process involves getting to know our clients through our onboarding process, followed by services including schematic design, design development, 3-D sketches, furniture and fixture selection, space planning, and construction documents.
• Commercial Design, Senior Living, and Healthcare: Our team brings an understanding of current trends in office, senior, and healthcare design. We start with extensive research about the site and the field of specialty, focusing on our clients' needs and incorporating best practices into our design.
• Kitchen and Baths: We are a full-service, one-stop kitchen and bath resource. We collaborate with clients on their project goals, analyzing how these hardworking spaces can be maximized to ensure that style, placement, orientation, and function are optimally utilized.
• Furniture and Custom Millwork: Our furniture services include custom furniture design, where we envision your project as 3D preliminary drawings, and then provide fabricators with plans and elevations. We can add timeless millwork to enhance the details of your space, including bookcases, window seats, and base and ceiling moldings.
