Peer-Run Mental Health Resources & Technical Assistance
Founded in 1986 by Joseph Rogers, the National Mental Health Self-Help Clearinghouse stands as the first peer-run national technical assistance center dedicated to mental health recovery. Our mission focuses on fostering self-determination, community inclusion, and social justice for individuals with lived mental health experiences. We provide critical resources including the monthly Key Update e-newsletter, a national directory of consumer-driven services, and specialized technical assistance for peer-run organizations. Affiliated with Temple University Collaborative since 2018, we maintain expertise in advocacy, policy development, and peer support systems.

Our work bridges gaps between mental health professionals, family members, policymakers, and individuals navigating recovery. Through webinars, publications, and resource libraries, we advance understanding of peer specialist roles and warm line services. Despite operational shifts from federal funding to volunteer management and current university partnership, our commitment to connecting people with self-help resources remains unwavering. We prioritize accessible information through digital platforms while maintaining rigorous standards for resource curation and dissemination.
