We, Trevor and Mary Hayes, have owned and operated Hayes Sewing Machine. in Wilmington, Delaware for over fifty-five years. Together with our three daughtersStephanie, Loretta, and Pamelawe operate a family-run business that sells and services sewing machines. Our dedication to the craft has been recognized with induction into the Sewing Hall of Fame and the receipt of Bernina's Presidential Award, along with numerous other certificates and honors. As an authorized Baby Lock and Bernina service center, we employ four factory-trained technicians who service everything from basic mechanical machines to top-of-the-line embroidery models. We maintain an inventory of more than forty different new sewing machines and also offer a selection of refurbished units to suit various budgets. Our fabric department stocks over two thousand bolts of fabric, complemented by a large notions wall stocked with threads, needles, notions, and accessories.

Education is a core part of our mission; we offer a wide range of classes for all skill levels, including basic sewing, quilting, embroidery, serger, and software instruction. Class schedules are available online, and we provide downloadable PDFs for upcoming sessions, such as the June 2026-September 2026 class list. In addition to in-store instruction, we publish over 170 instructional videos on our YouTube channel to support continued learning at home. For customers wishing to purchase a new machine, we provide flexible financing options that allow pre-approval in minutes with no obligation. Our repair service operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with a current turnaround time of approximately three weeks, and we welcome walk-ins during our Monday-through-Saturday hours of 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed on Sundays.
