Our Humble Beginnings

The story of Plenums+ began in the early 1980s when our founder, Bob Copp, envisioned a sheet metal shop that would cater to HVAC contractors in the San Diego area. The goal was to provide consistent employment opportunities while easing the burden of shop overhead for contractors. In July 1986, Bob and his wife Anne turned this dream into reality, starting a 5,000 sq. ft. shop dedicated to serving the local HVAC industry.

Over the years, Plenums+ has evolved and grown. Today, we operate in a 40,000 sq. ft., fully automated metal shop, employing a team of skilled artisans that produce superior quality products daily. We take pride in our incredible customer service, ensuring timely deliveries and fostering long-lasting partnerships.

Each year, we divert more than 85% of our waste from disposal through an extensive recycling program, making it an integral part of our company culture. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, we can download ductwork from contractor-supplied CAD files directly to our CNC plasma cutting system, ensuring precision and efficiency in every project.

In 1999, Plenums+ became the first firm on the west coast, and the only firm in San Diego, to successfully navigate the verification process for our shop standards by SMACNA's Testing and Research Institute. This recognition demonstrates our dedication to the industry's most comprehensive rectangular duct construction standards and our commitment to providing clients with performance-tested products.
