Framing Memories, One Frame at a Time.
Exums Frame Shop and Gallery is the oldest and most experienced custom frame shop in Tyler, serving East Texas for over 50 years with the same owners. Our long-standing presence in the industry is a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality, service, knowledge, and price. As the number one custom framer in Tyler, we offer a wider selection and more services than any other picture frame dealer in the area, all at reasonable pricing and with high-quality work, materials, and design done in-house. Whether you need conservation framing or custom framing, we are your one-stop solution for all your framing needs.
Custom Framing
At Exums Frame Shop and Gallery, we provide expert design help and endless choices in mats and frames for custom framing. We use only real wood for our framing materials, with precise fitting, corner matching, and quality control. Our corner joining system is not available anywhere else in Texas. We use only conservation grade materials for mats and backing, never settling for lesser "acid free" materials. Our attachment methods meet Library of Congress standards, ensuring the longevity and value of what you frame.
We also offer ready-made stock frames for times when a stock frame will suffice. With several hundred available, we are confident you will find what you need. Our selection of easel back photo frames is more sophisticated and high quality than you will find elsewhere. We can provide UV glass to improve the lifespan of your photo, and we have a solution to prevent glossy photos from sticking to the glass. We can fabricate an easel back for any of our stock or custom frames.
Glass Choices
At Exums Frame Shop and Gallery, we offer various glass choices to protect and enhance your artwork. Plain and reflection control glass are still available, but UV filtering glass causes things to last much longer. The reflection control glass does not distort the image as much as the non-glare. Conservation clear looks just like plain but is protective, while conservation reflection control has UV protection, although it causes a slight "hazing" of the image. Museum Glass is an excellent choice if you want to see the difference, but it is expensive. Plexiglass is available in clear, non-glare, and UV filtering and is often the best choice.
Mounting and Stretching
Mounting is a critical area for the longevity and value of what you frame. At Exums Frame Shop and Gallery, we discuss the mounting methods in regard to your project. Paper can be "hinged" with appropriate tapes, mulberry paper hinges with wheat starch, edge or corner holders, dry mounted, spray mounted, or wet mounted. We have been stretching artist's canvas since 1965.
Mats
Exums offers a wide color palette and selection of high-quality acid-free mats to choose from, whether you decide on a single, double, or triple matting style. Our experienced staff will help you explore all your matting options and make the perfect choice for your individual needs.
