About the MMMCA
The Metropolitan Marine Maintenance Contractors' Association, Inc. (MMMCA) is a not-for-profit trade association representing 21 marine maintenance contractors operating in the Port of New York and New Jersey. These contractors provide vital services to the maritime industry, including maintenance, repair, cleaning, and other general maritime work.
Mission and Values
The MMMCA's mission is to:
- Advocate for fair wages, working conditions, and job security for its member companies' employees.
- Promote efficient and reliable marine services for the Port.
- Facilitate harmonious and productive relationships between employers and employees.
What We Do
The MMMCA serves multiple functions for its member companies:
- Collective Bargaining: Represents member companies in negotiations and execution of collective bargaining agreements with the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA).
- Benefits & Administration: Administers healthcare programs, retirement plans, and other benefits for member companies' employees.
- Joint Action: Participates in committees to improve port productivity and contract compliance.
- Advocacy: Represents the industry's interests in legislative and regulatory matters.
- Training & Development: Hosts training programs and certifications to enhance the skills of member companies' employees.
Our History
Founded in 1945 and incorporated in 1947, the MMMCA has a long history of representing the interests of marine maintenance contractors in the Port of New York and New Jersey. Over the years, the association has evolved to meet the changing needs of its members and the industry.
Leadership and Staff
The MMMCA is governed by a Board of Directors composed of industry leaders. The association's dedicated staff works to implement the strategic vision and goals of the Board.
