Our History

Swain Funeral Home is a pillar of the Baxley community, deeply rooted in tradition and dedicated to serving families with compassion and care. Our journey began in the early 1900s with Mr. W.W. Morris, the founder of The Morris Undertaking Co. The family business, located in Baxley, quickly established itself as a trusted source of support during times of loss. A pivotal moment in our history arrived when Mr. Morris' niece, Lillie Johnson Morris, wed Warren E. Swain Sr., a partnership that shaped the future of the funeral home. The name evolved to Morris-Swain, reflecting the combined legacy of these two influential families.

After Mr. Morris' passing in 1930, the business temporarily paused its operations. However, destiny had a plan. Warren E. Swain Jr. returned home after his service in the Air Force following World War II. Driven by a desire to honor his family's legacy and serve his community, he rededicated himself to the funeral home business. He expanded and modernized the services, ensuring that Morris-Swain remained a beacon of compassionate service for generations to come.
