Our Story
Dr. James Steere, the founder of Artaurus Equine Clinic, had a vision to provide exceptional veterinary care to equine patients. He founded the clinic in 1972, and his son, Dr. Robert Steere, joined the practice in 1995 after working in Southern California for several years. Dr. Robert Steere earned his veterinary degree from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and was recognized with the Lloyd's of London award for most distinguished equine student. In 2000, Dr. Robert Steere bought his father's practice and in 2007 built a new clinic at its current location on Skillman Lane in Petaluma.

We have a dedicated team of veterinarians, including Dr. Robert Steere and Dr. Amber Johnson, who have extensive experience in equine medicine. We work closely with specialists, including a visiting board-certified surgeon and UC Davis when needed, to provide comprehensive care to our patients.
