Mood Disorders and Suicide Prevention
Mood Disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder, affect millions of people in the United States every day. Despite their prevalence, mood disorders are often not well understood, and many people struggle to manage their symptoms. At Petoskey Professional Counselors, LLC, we understand the impact that mood disorders can have on a person's life, and we are committed to providing compassionate and effective treatment.
Suicide prevention is a critical component of our practice. We believe that every life is valuable and that everyone deserves to receive the support and care they need to overcome suicidal thoughts and feelings. Our clinicians are trained to recognize the signs of suicidal ideation and to provide the necessary support and resources to help our clients stay safe.

We also offer Psychology of Personal Effectiveness for High School Juniors and Seniors, which is designed to help students develop the skills they need to succeed in college and beyond.

We are committed to making our services accessible to as many people as possible, and we offer both in-person and telehealth counseling services.

Sherry Guthrie MS, LPC
Sherry Guthrie M.S., LPC received a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Barry University in Miami Florida in 1998 and has been working with clients from all walks of life for nearly 25 years providing quality, ethical services. Sherry has enjoyed working in large community centers, in private practice settings and have supervised clinical programs. She is a past contributor to both "Being" magazine and the Petoskey News Review. Sherry also served as Adjunct Faculty at Miami-Dade college for 7 years before relocating to Petoskey Michigan in 2007. Sherry is a qualified supervisor for LPCs in the state of Michigan and is EMDR trained.
Christine Omilion-Sugg, MA, LPC, NCC
Christine earned her Master's of Clinical Mental Health Degree from Oakland University with a specialization in infant, child, and adolescent therapy. She has provided care at the Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan, Great Lakes Psychiatric, and is now serving clients at Petoskey Professional Counselors. Christine has worked closely with countless children and adolescents over the years but is equally devoted and qualified to work with families and adults as well. Christine is a qualified supervisor for LPCs in the state of Michigan and is EMDR trained.
Susan (Sue) McCloskey, PMHNP-BC
Susan McCloskey PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who received her Master of Science degree from Maryville University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Michigan. Sue has experience with clients across the lifespan but specializes in working with children and adolescents. Sue has worked as a pediatric nurse in Northern Michigan for many years. Her most recent clinical experience was in a local school-based health center. Additionally, she has worked as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at CMH, managing medication for children ages 4-18. Sue has experience to diagnose and prescribe medication for clients that have mood and behavior disorders, ADHD, as well as other mental health conditions.
Naomi Casement, LMSW, CAADC, CSAT
Naomi brings substantial knowledge and clinical skills to her therapy practice. Her experiences include specialty trainings in the areas of trauma, marriage/couple counseling, betrayal, addiction, and women's issues. Her experience ranges over 34 years. Naomi earned her master's degree at Wayne State University, Detroit, and attended the University of Michigan - Flint campus for her undergraduate degree. She enjoyed working in the addiction field as an intensive outpatient clinician in Flint. Afterward, she continued working with addiction and other mental health issues at Henry Ford outpatient clinic, Clinton Township, Michigan. There she conducted group therapy and didactic lectures for clients and their families in recovery. She also worked in the non-profit sector both as a clinical therapist, then as site director for Catholic Charities in Shiawassee County. In 2018, Naomi transitioned to live in the beautiful
