South Carolina Society Hall

South Carolina Society Hall is one of the most historic and beautiful venues in the nation, offering a unique and elegant space for various events. Our building, designed by Gabriel Manigault and built between 1799 and 1804, is renowned for its rich history and stunning architecture. The portico, added in 1825, was designed by Frederick Wesner, adding to the building's aesthetic appeal.

At South Carolina Society Hall, we specialize in hosting a variety of events, including weddings, receptions, dinner and cocktail parties, conferences, performances, and other special events. We offer a unique and elegant space for our clients to create lasting memories with their guests. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional service and ensuring that every event is a success.

The Building

Our historic building boasts an impressive ballroom on the second floor, along with an ante-room, and two flex rooms on the first floor. The ballroom and ante-room are 29 feet wide by 72 feet long, while the first-floor front room is 28 feet wide by 24 feet long, and the back room is 28 feet wide by 27 feet long. We also have an antique table in the anteroom, measuring 46 inches wide by 96 inches long, and 15 folding tables that are 30 inches wide by 72 inches long. The building has a total capacity of 200 for stand-up receptions, 150 for seated dinners without dancing, and 120 for seated dinners with dancing.

In addition to the elegant event spaces, our building also features a very useful elevator with three stops: ground/street level, first floor (flex rooms), and second floor (ballroom). However, please note that the ladies' powder room is located on a landing between the first and second floors and cannot be reached via the elevator.
