Compass Marine Services evolved from the desire to have a more hands-on approach with the 24/7 services necessary to support the members of sister company, The National Boat Owners Association (NBOA). Although founded in 2012, Compass Marine's journey began over 40 years ago.

Our History

The National Boat Owners Association (NBOA) was founded in Southern Florida in 1984 and began selling boating memberships in coastal cities throughout the U.S. In 1991, NBOA was acquired by Florida Marine Insurance Agency, which later updated its name to NBOA Marine Insurance.

In 1994, NBOA began a partnership with Sea Ray Boats, offering one year of free membership to Sea Ray owners. This partnership and its membership promotion continued for well over a decade. By the year 2000, NBOA Marine Insurance had grown to become one of the largest independently owned boat insurance agencies in the country.

In 2012, NBOA officers decided to branch out and form a 24/7 call center to support its growing membership base. Compass Marine Services, Inc. was founded, and The National Boat Owners Association became Compass Marine's first client, utilizing Compass to run its membership program and provide 24/7 on-water towing dispatch.

In 2022, Compass Marine celebrated its 10-year anniversary alongside the accomplishment of reaching an internal milestone of 1 million actively serviced customers.
