Accreditation and Memberships
Lakeside Veterinary Clinic is proud to be an accredited member of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS) and holds accreditation with the USDA National Veterinary Accreditation Program. Our clinic has been voluntarily evaluated and found to meet the standards established by the Veterinary Facility Accreditation Program (VFAP) for veterinary facilities in New York State, thereby upholding the standards of veterinary care in our state. Dr. Scranton, being an accredited veterinarian of the USDA National Veterinary Accreditation Program, works in cooperation with USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and State health officials to protect and improve the health, quality, and productivity of U.S. animals. Dr. Scranton is authorized to certify companion animals for domestic and international movement.
Dr. Scranton is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Society (AVMA), an association that aims to advance the science and art of veterinary medicine, including its relationship to public health, biological science, and agriculture. Furthermore, she is a proud member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), an association renowned for its high standards for hospitals and animal health care.
Our Staff
*Vicki, Office Manager*
Vicki, our Office Manager, holds a degree in Business Management from SUNY Empire State College. Having joined our staff in September 2006, Vicki is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the clinic. In her spare time, she enjoys stained glass, photography, music, and reading. Vicki also takes care of her two dogs named Teagan & Farleigh.
*Lorna, Veterinary Assistant*
Lorna joined our staff as a Veterinary Assistant in July 2018. She is also a Teaching Assistant at the Tupper Lake Middle/High School. Lorna shares a home with her father and has two grown sons. She has a menagerie of pets, including Subban a Basset mix, Max a pit-bull mix, Luca a Dachshund, Cassie a Chihuahua mix, Bima a Chihuahua mix, Friday a teacup Chihuahua, Baby a teacup Chihuahua, Little Girl a teacup Chihuahua, Sampson a teacup Chihuahua, and Fuzzy the cat. Apart from her work at the clinic, Lorna enjoys going for walks, gardening, reading, crafts, and watching movies.
*Dr. Scranton*
Dr. Scranton is originally from the Boston, Massachusetts area. She holds a B.S. in biochemistry with minors in math and chemistry. After graduating from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell in 1986, she practiced in a large/small animal practice in Adams, NY until 1990. She then worked in an equine/small animal practice in Remsen, NY. In 1992, she started her own small animal practice in Tupper Lake. Dr. Scranton is a member of the NYS Veterinary Society, the American Veterinary Medical Society, and the American Animal Hospital Association. In her leisure time, she enjoys gardening and walking for relaxation; and biking, ice-skating, and snow-shoeing for fun. Dr. Scranton owns a dog named "Bungie - Stop It!" (to which he happily wags his tail in response).
