Established in 1999 as a retirement project by Linda and Lloyd Kleypas, the Gruene River Hotel & Retreat has remained family-owned and operated under Paul & Aggie, who have preserved the original warm hospitality that defined the property. Located just steps from the Guadalupe River and Texas oldest dancehall, Gruene Hall, our boutique hotel offers guests a unique blend of Southern charm and modern comforts. Each of our individually themed rooms features amenities like private balconies, in-room fireplaces, and river views, alongside daily complimentary breakfast and evening wine receptions. Our propertys peaceful grounds provide access to the river for tubing, kayaking, and rafting, while also placing guests within walking distance of local shops, wine tastings, and live music venues. For corporate retreats, our conference and meeting rooms accommodate 5 - 30 people, combining natural lighting, fireplaces, and outdoor river-view patios.

Our team, led by Paul & Aggie and their daughter Jerico and son-in-law Helen, treats every guest as part of the family, ensuring personalized service and memorable stays. We pride ourselves on maintaining the cozy, welcoming atmosphere instilled by the original owners while offering modern conveniences like free WiFi, Texas-sized hot tubs, and game rooms. Guests must be 21 years or older, ensuring a quiet, adult-focused environment. With 25 years of experience in hospitality, weve curated partnerships for activities like golf, wine tours, and horseback riding, enhancing each visitors Hill Country experience. Our cancellation policy allows rescheduling without charge with 48-hour notice, reflecting our commitment to flexibility and guest satisfaction.
