Our Story

At A Child's Garden, we are a Severna Park-based preschool with a focus on the very young learner. Founded in 2001, we are committed to providing a stimulating, developmentally appropriate environment that enhances the child's natural curiosity and desire to learn in an atmosphere of loving care. Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment that fosters growth and development, acknowledging the importance of the early years of childhood.

Our Philosophy

We believe that our school is a special place, unique in a child's experience, and designed to provide the components of a quality early childhood educational program. Recognizing the crucial and important years of childhood, we believe in inspiring children to reach their highest potential academically, socially, physically, and artistically. Our program focuses on language arts, math, science, social studies, and the arts, which enhances the child's natural curiosity and desire to learn in an atmosphere of loving care.

Our Services

We offer a range of programs designed to cater to the unique needs of young children. Our programs include a toddler program for 18-month-olds and young 2-year-olds, an older 2-year-old program for ages 30 months and up, and a 3-year-old program. We also offer morning preschool classes from 9 a.m. to noon and full-day extended care from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for working families. We accommodate various attendance schedules, ranging from two half-days to five full days.

Our Commitment to Excellence

We are committed to providing high-quality early childhood education and care. In 2015, we became one of the only Early Childhood Programs in Anne Arundel County to be awarded the highest rating (check level 5) under the Maryland EXCELS program based on nationally recognized quality standards and best practices. We are also Maryland Department of Education (MSDE) accredited and have a 5 Check Maryland EXCELs rating.

Our Staff

Our teachers and staff members are enthusiastic about children and teaching! The interaction between children and adults is positive, warm, and nurturing, with lots of attention to each child's needs. Many of our staff members have been with us for several years, and we are proud to say that some of our staff have been with us since the school's inception in 2001.
