Michael R. Gwinn, our CEO, is an accomplished aviation professional with over 40 years of experience in both military and civilian aviation. He began his aviation journey at a young age, soloing at Hinton-Alderson Airport at just 16 years old. He then joined the U.S. Army, where he served in numerous aviation assignments, including the prestigious 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). Following his military service, Mike worked as a contracted military flight instructor and developer of both civilian and Department of Defense aviation training programs.

Mike holds an impressive array of certifications, including an FAA Airline Transport Pilot and Gold Seal Certificated Flight Instructor certificates for both Airplanes and Helicopters, as well as an FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate (A&P). He is type rated in 14 aircraft and has accumulated over 16,000 flight hours. As an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE), Mike is qualified to conduct initial CFI for single and multi-engine airplanes and helicopters, and he also serves as a Specialty Aircraft Examiner (SAE), Experimental Aircraft Examiner (EAE), and Military Competency Examiner (MCE).
