At Providence Veterinary Hospital & Clinic, we are a locally-owned animal hospital and clinic, dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary medicine and compassionate care to pets and their families in Alameda, CA, and surrounding areas. Our story began in 1947, when a dedicated veterinarian started seeing pets in his home after the end of World War II. Over the years, we have grown and expanded, with our hospital being the first animal hospital in Alameda. We take pride in being an independent practice, serving the community with our two convenient locations.

Our team of skilled and compassionate veterinarians are committed to developing personalized health care solutions for each pet. Our services include wellness care, vaccinations, pet nutrition, surgery, pet boarding, and more. We believe in the importance of preventive care and offer routine exams, vaccinations, and dental cleanings to help keep pets healthy. We also provide pain management, senior pet care, and urgent care when pets need it most.

We are proud to be Cat Friendly Practices and have staff members who are Fear Free Certified Professionals. This means we prioritize pet mental health and well-being, ensuring pets feel safe and comfortable during their visits. Our facilities are designed with the specific needs of cats in mind, and our staff knows how to minimize stress and anxiety for both dogs and cats.

In addition to our medical services, we also offer an in-house pharmacy, providing pets with the latest prescriptions and products. Our online pharmacy allows pet owners to refill prescriptions easily and conveniently. Located on the East End in Downtown Alameda, our hospital is our original location, founded in 1947. We recently modernized our hospital in 2016, equipping it with the latest medical technology and equipment. Our hospital is a full-service facility, offering all the services your pet needs, including boarding.

Providence Veterinary Clinic

Our clinic is located on the West End on Webster Street and offers all the same outstanding services as our hospital. We modernized our clinic in 2019 to ensure we continue to provide the highest level of care to our patients.

Community Involvement

We are proud to be part of the Alameda, CA community and are committed to giving back. We have a long-standing relationship with The Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter and our owner and vet, Dr. Michael Miller, has served on the board for years. We often provide spays and neuters, offer parasite prevention, and provide a variety of other low-cost treatments to help these pets get ready for adoption. If you adopt a pet from The Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter - or any shelter/rescue, for that matter - your pet's first exam with us is free!
