My Health Journey

Growing up, I believed I was healthy. Looking back, that wasn't entirely accurate. When visiting the doctor for routine checkups, they always declared me to be in good health. My blood pressure was excellent, my weight generally remained within a healthy range, and there weren't any obvious medical concerns. However, there were underlying issues that I was unaware of at the time. I suffered from recurring headaches and migraines since childhood, had constipation without realizing it until learning about proper hydration and healthy elimination, endured excruciating menstrual cramps, and experienced a period of extreme fatigue in high school, needing two to three-hour naps daily. During this time, my mom took me to the doctor who ordered blood work, only to find nothing conclusive except a suggestion to take an iron supplement. While I appreciated the suggestion, it didn't address the root of my overwhelming weariness. My legs also persistently itched, a symptom I initially attributed to chlorine exposure from my time as a swimmer. However, the itching persisted even after I stopped swimming. Although I was unaware of the terms "fatigue" and "brain fog, " these were constant companions throughout most of my college years.

While I didn't have any glaring medical issues and was considered "generally" healthy, I definitely wasn't in optimal health. It was during my college years, when my weight reached a point of physical discomfort that I decided to embark on a path of improving my well-being. I had been mentally uncomfortable in my body for a long time due to societal pressures about female body image, but the physical discomfort pushed me to make a change.

Bringing Natural Relief

I began with small, manageable alterations to my eating habits. I eliminated obvious unhealthy foods, reduced my overall food intake, particularly at dinner, and incorporated more movement into my daily routine. My journey started with a

simple walk of a mile, five days a week. Gradually, I increased the distance, eventually walking two miles daily.

Recognizing the importance of accountability and dedicated exercise space, I joined a gym conveniently located on my way home from work. Knowing that consistency was key, I ensured I had a plan in place.
