Wellspring Studios is a premium recording studio located in Acton, MA, offering a unique blend of vintage and state-of-the-art equipment, a spacious live recording space, and an extensive collection of instruments and drums. Our experienced team of engineers and producers have a deep understanding of what it takes to provide a successful studio experience, and we're dedicated to helping artists create their best work.

Our Story

Founded in 1984 as a four-track cassette project studio, Wellspring has evolved over the years to become a world-class recording facility, with a commitment to delivering high-quality recordings, mixing, and mastering. Our studio has been home to numerous talented artists, including Tracy Chapman, Dar Williams, Esperanza Spalding, and Martin Sexton, to name a few. We're proud of our reputation for providing exceptional service, state-of-the-art equipment, and a welcoming environment that inspires creativity.

Our Services

We offer a range of services, including live sound reinforcement, live recording, music production, mixing, mastering, and video streaming. Our studios are equipped with the latest technology, including ProTools systems, Apogee Symphony Mk2, and Lynx Aurora AD/DA systems, ensuring the finest digital sounds possible.

Studio A

Our flagship studio, Studio A, features a spacious live room with maple floors and 12' - 14' ceilings, a 22' x 25' acoustically-designed control room with 1/2" and 1" mixdown decks, and four iso booths of various shapes and sizes. We also boast an impressive collection of instruments and amplifiers, with over 90 guitars and amps, two Yamaha 7-foot grand pianos, and seven keyboards.

Studio B

Our second studio, Studio B, offers a comfortable 14' x 18' control room and a 13' x 14' live room. The studio is equipped with a 56-input Sony DMX-R100 digital console, and we offer a range of mixing surfaces, including a Great-River 20-channel Mixmaster 20 system.

Live Sound and Recording

In addition to our recording services, we also offer live sound reinforcement and live recording services for events of all sizes, from 200 to 5,000 people. Our team of experienced engineers can provide high-quality sound reinforcement and recording services for live events.

The Future

At Wellspring Studios, we're committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint. As of January 2024, we've become the first all-green recording studio in New England, running entirely on renewable energy sources.
