At Debary Sonshine Academy, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and educational environment for children to grow and thrive. Our experienced and loving staff strive to prepare children for future schooling, while also supporting them in their academic and personal lives.

Our History

Debary Sonshine Academy was founded in 1999 by Ken and Mary Dietzel, who were inspired by their vision to provide a personal educational environment for children and families. This vision stemmed from their own experiences as parents, when they were unable to find a school that offered the quality education and care they wanted for their child. Today, we are proud to serve the children and families of West Volusia, providing a faith-based Christian program that focuses on the development of the whole child - physically, cognitively, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Our Programs

At Debary Sonshine Academy, we offer a range of programs designed to meet the needs of children from preschool age to school age. Our preschool program is based on Wee Care, STEM, and Creative curriculums, which aim to help children develop their skills and knowledge in a fun and engaging way. We also offer summer programs and after-school care, providing a safe and secure environment for children to learn and grow.

Our Commitment to Teaching and Caring

We are committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares children for success in kindergarten and beyond. Our experienced and well-trained staff strive to build family relationships and encourage parental involvement in students' academic lives. We are a community-driven, family-oriented child care and education center where the owner and director are always on-site and available. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and have fun, while also receiving the care and attention they need to thrive.

Awards and Recognition

We are proud to have received several awards and recognition for our commitment to excellence in education. We were awarded the Volusia Partner of the Year for Volusia County Schools, and the Florida League of Christian Schools (FLOCS) voted us a "School of Excellence." Our playground was also recognized as one of the cleanest and largest in the area.
