Our Story

For over 70 years, Cedar Creek Yacht Club has been a haven for those who cherish the boating and outdoor lifestyle. Nestled on 60 acres of woodland on Old Hickory Lake, the club offers a perfect blend of tradition, modern amenities, and exceptional service. It all began in 1953 when rumors spread about the building of Old Hickory Dam. A group of visionaries, including Frank Davis and W.E. Jones, sought to form a club to enjoy the lake. They scouted the land, and after much effort, the Charter was formed on September 23, 1953. The club evolved, with slow but steady growth, through the years. Improvements and additions included the construction of a pool, bathhouse, and pavilion, the transformation of trailers into lake homes, tennis courts, and a dry storage facility. The club's transformation from a sporting and fishing club to a boating club was marked by the replacement of old docks with modern facilities. Younger families joined, and the Down River Park Play area was built for the children. The pool was updated twice, and in 2013, it was replaced with a beautiful saltwater pool. The clubhouse and kitchen were renovated, and the Anchor Room Bar was expanded and renovated. Throughout its history, Cedar Creek Yacht Club has remained a place where families and friends come together, making memories that last a lifetime.

Church by the Lake

In 1958, Leonard and Susie McKeand started holding church services on their homemade houseboat every Sunday during the summer. Sixty years later, Cedar Creek Church by the Lake is still thriving. The church has grown to include a stone platform, a sound system, and weatherproof pews donated by members. It is an avid supporter of local charities and holds its services at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. The bell rings at 10:00 a.m. to gather all churchgoers together for fellowship before the service starts. The Easter Service will be held on March 31, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., with Rev. Tim Bryant as the speaker.
