HERE FOR YOU WHEN YOU NEED US

At West Linn Community Preschool, we are a cooperative preschool that believes in the importance of family involvement and community engagement in our children's educational journey. Our preschool is unique in that it is run by its members, with families working together to create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the growth and development of our little ones.

Our Cooperative Experience

As a cooperative preschool, we believe that the involvement of parents in the classroom is essential to the success of our program. Our parents play an active role in the classroom, helping with daily activities, preparing snacks, setting up outdoor play areas, and engaging in many other ways. This not only helps to create a sense of community and connection among our families but also allows our parents to be an integral part of their child's educational experience.

Our Teacher

Our teacher, Cathy Vause, has been teaching at West Linn Community Preschool since 1980. With her many years of experience and training from Oregon State University, she has developed a program that focuses on creativity, community, and curiosity. Her cheerful nature, patience, and genuine concern for each child set a positive tone for their early learning experience. Cathy's dedication to her students and her school is evident in the warm and welcoming environment she creates.

The Benefits of a Cooperative Preschool

Participating in a cooperative preschool such as ours offers many benefits for families. By being actively involved in the classroom, parents have the opportunity to:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of their child's educational experiences and the school's operations
  • Build strong relationships with their child's teacher and fellow parents
  • Gain valuable parenting skills as they observe how a professional teacher and other parents deal with different scenarios
  • Create lasting memories and friendships with other families
  • Be an integral part of their child's educational journey and development

Our Board Members

Our Board Members are dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of our school. They consist of:

  • Laura Holm: President
  • Breanna Newbill: Vice President
  • Laura Dixon: Treasurer
  • Katie Marshall: Secretary

Our Cooperative Structure

As a non-profit organization, our school is run by its members. Each family is responsible for fulfilling a job within the school. These jobs include serving on the Executive Board, participating in committees, or filling other roles to support the school's operations. This structure allows us to maintain our autonomy and make decisions that benefit our families and our school.

Extended Families and WLCP

At West Linn Community Preschool, we believe that family involvement is not limited to biological parents. We welcome grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other extended family members to participate in the classroom. This not only allows more family members to be involved in the school but also provides opportunities for intergenerational learning and bonding.

What Our Parents Say

Here is what some of our parents have to say about their experience at West Linn Community Preschool:

  • "West Linn Community Preschool has been the best place for both my son and I. With the cooperative experience, I get to transition with him! I'm so pleased with our decision!"
  • "Sending my child here has been the best decision I've ever made. Teacher Cathy has developed a program unlike any other, and really knows how to foster the growth and development of her students. You won't find a better preschool for your child."

Conclusion

At West Linn Community Preschool, we believe that family involvement and community engagement are essential to creating a positive and supportive educational environment. We invite you to join our community and experience the many benefits that our cooperative preschool has to offer.
