Compassionate, Dignified, and Respectful Care for Your Loved Ones
Our Legacy of Compassionate Service
The Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel stands as a pillar of support for families in Forsyth, Missouri, and the surrounding areas. With a rich history spanning over a century, our roots trace back to 1915 when Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Whelchel, recognizing a need for compassionate funeral services in the community, founded the first Whelchel Funeral Chapel. They started humbly, in the basement of their hardware store, with Minnie Whelchel, the first female embalmer in Taney County, leading the way. This commitment to serving families faced the immense challenges of loss marked the beginning of a long tradition of care and dignity.
Over the years, the Whelchel Funeral Chapel expanded to meet the growing needs of the community. A larger chapel was built in 1950, and in 1980, the facility moved to its current location, designed to provide a warm and welcoming space for bereaved families. Throughout this journey, dedicated funeral professionals have carried on the legacy of compassion and personalized service that defines the Whelchel name.
In June 2023, Darrel and Susan Bearden, with a shared commitment to serving the Forsyth community, took the helm, honoring the legacy and renaming the chapel to Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel. This transition signifies a new chapter while preserving the core values that have resonated with families for generations. We remain dedicated to providing the utmost care and support during life's most difficult moments.
