Holston Presbytery Camp & Retreat Center

Since 1955, Holston has hosted summer camps in North Carolina for kids seeking refuge from the seasonal heat and a sanctuary for spiritual, mental, and physical growth. Now, as a year-round facility, we welcome groups of any faith to respond to a higher calling and join together in the wooded mountains of Holston Camp and Retreat Center in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Our summer camps are designed for children from Grade 1 to 12, offering a range of programs tailored to meet the needs and interests of each age group. From "Boomers Day Camp" for Grade 1-8 to "Wildcat CIT" for Grade 11-12, our programs aim to provide a unique blend of fun, adventure, and spiritual growth.

Summer Camp Programs

Boomers Day Camp (Grade 1-8) offers a fun-filled week of activities designed for younger campers, while Discovery Camp (Grade 2-3) focuses on exploration and discovery. Venture Camp (Grade 3-5) is all about adventure and trying new things, followed by Explorer Camp (Grade 6-8) which emphasizes leadership and teamwork. For older campers, Wilderness Camp (Grade 9-10) offers a more challenging outdoor experience, and Wildcat CIT (Grade 11-12) prepares young leaders for their future roles.

Camp Activities and Objectives

At Holston, we believe that the great outdoors is a powerful teacher. Our camps are designed to help children develop physical, social, psychological, and spiritual skills through a variety of activities such as hiking, team-building exercises, arts and crafts, and spiritual reflection. We encourage campers to "unplug" for the week and connect with nature, their peers, and themselves. By doing so, we hope to create a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of nature and the importance of community.

Retreats and Rentals

When we're not hosting summer camps, Holston is available for group accommodations. We specialize in seasonal retreats, family reunions, business meetings, weddings, social groups, and church groups. Our 150 acres of beautiful, wooded land offer a serene setting for any event. We also provide comfortable accommodations that sleep 130+, delicious meal service, and on-site recreational activities.
