Angkor Dance Troupe

At Angkor Dance Troupe, we are a dynamic group of passionate individuals who come together to preserve and promote Cambodian performing arts, culture, and history. Our mission is to provide a platform for artists to express themselves and share their skills with the community, while also providing a platform for people to learn, grow, and connect with one another.

Our Story

We were founded in 1986 by Cambodian refugees of the Khmer Rouge, who brought with them a passion to carry on their cherished cultural traditions. Today, we are nationally recognized as one of the most accomplished and experienced U.S.-based Cambodian traditional arts organizations.

Our Mission

Our vision is for Lowell, Massachusetts, to be a center for Cambodian performing arts, culture, and history, with the Angkor Dance Troupe at its core. We aim to maintain the integrity of Cambodian performing arts and traditions while adapting to societal changes, and developing the next generation of dancers, teachers, mentors, and leaders.

Our Programs

We offer three different programs to promote Cambodian performing arts, culture, and history. Our programs include traditional classical and folk dance, traditional Cambodian music instruments, and Khmer language classes. Our students learn the history and background of each performing art area, preparing them for a Global Cultural Exchange with Cambodian communities who share the same mission.

Our Team

Our team is a dynamic group of passionate individuals who bring unique talents and expertise to the table. Our administrative team is led by Executive Director Bora Chiemruom, while our artistic team is led by Artistic Director Phousita Huy. Our Board of Directors includes experienced professionals in the fields of non-profit management, arts administration, and community engagement.

We partner with local organizations, community groups, and educational institutions to promote Cambodian performing arts, culture, and history. We also collaborate with other organizations to develop new programs and initiatives that support our mission.
