The Roadrunner Lodge Motel was originally two different properties, La Plaza Court and Leatherwood Manor, built in 1947 and 1964 respectively. After years of separate ownership, they were combined into one motel in 1985. Our current owner, David Brenner, moved to the property in 2014 and undertook a comprehensive renovation to restore it to its former glory. We've worked tirelessly to bring back the charm of the past while incorporating modern comforts. Our goal is to create memories that will last a lifetime for every guest who stays with us.

Our Story

The Roadrunner Lodge Motel's story began with a passion for preserving the past and creating a unique experience for our guests. Our owner, David Brenner, is a fan of boutique properties and "mom & pop" establishments, seeking immersive cultural experiences when he travels. He envisioned recreating the 1960s vibe at our motel, including an in-house radio station playing hits from that era. Every detail, from the decor to the amenities, was carefully considered to transport our guests back in time.

The renovation process has been a long and rewarding journey, uncovering hidden gems and restoring them to their former glory. We've discovered vintage tiling and other features in the bathrooms, which we're showcasing as we progress. Our goal is to not only provide a comfortable stay but also a glimpse into the history of Tucumcari and the stories that make it such a special place.
