Our Story

Gerke Excavating, Inc. was founded in 1947 by Allan Gerke, who started the family business with a single dump truck. Over the years, the business grew, and Allan's sons, Richard and Paul, joined the company in 1963 and 1965, respectively. In 1978, Richard and Paul took over the company, and by 1988 and 1993, Paul's sons started working with the family as well. Today, we have over 300 employees and a fleet of over 200 units, including dump trucks, dozers, backhoes, loaders, and more.

Our excavating services include municipal construction, highway construction, commercial construction, site development, township roadwork, landfill construction, mining, residential construction, lime service, aggregate crushing, and snow removal. We also provide material sales, including aggregate base course, Ag lime, rip rap, recycled asphalt, recycled concrete, fill sand, screened sand, bedding sand, and topsoil. Our team is equipped to handle demolition, trucking, and more.
