Technical Issues and Poor Communication
The reviews suggest that the medical professional failed to meet the patient's expectations in terms of technical competence and communication. The patient, Freda A., underwent panniculectomy surgery on February 23rd and experienced several issues. Despite the surgery going "fine" initially, the patient encountered significant problems during the recovery period.
Drain Issues and Suture Disasters
The patient reported that the surgeon accidentally cut the lift side drain and left a non-dissolving suture in for approximately 4 weeks. This was only noticed when the patient pointed it out to the surgeon. Furthermore, the right drain remained in for around 6 weeks, causing discomfort and bleeding, which the surgeon knew about. The patient had to use special gauze and tape to manage the bleeding, which was not cheap.
Lack of Guidance and Overextension
The patient's last visit with the surgeon resulted in being cleared to work out without any restrictions. However, this was done without proper guidance or discussion about the potential consequences. The patient had to call to clarify the situation, highlighting the need for better communication.
