Community & Values
As a local, Native American, and queer women-owned small business, we deeply value our connection to the community we serve. We actively collaborate with the university's Sustainability Office, contributing to the student farm's composting program, and promoting eco-conscious practices within our cafe. We also work closely with the University's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office, fostering an environment of respect and belonging for all.
Our journey began with Tosha Rustad, our owner and passionate driving force. Tosha's commitment to ethical and sustainable food practices started early, working as a baker for a grocer and later in franchise management. She realized a strong desire to make a positive impact through her work, drawn to Caffe Ibis Coffee Roasting Company's mission of compassion, conscious business practices, and ethical leadership. Learning from founder Sally Sears, Tosha honed her skills and gained valuable insight into creating a business model that prioritized social responsibility alongside culinary excellence.
Working as the Director of Cafe Operations at the Red Chair Cafe, Tosha seized the opportunity to bring her vision to life. Collaborating with her partner, Tosha founded La Muse d'Or, continuing to serve the campus community with the same dedication, passion, and commitment to quality that has become synonymous with the Red Chair Cafe.
