Our History

Botham Vineyards & Winery has been crafting authentic Wisconsin wines since 1989, deeply rooted in the belief that great wine begins in the vineyard. We are a family-owned and operated winery, now spanning two generations, with a steadfast commitment to producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of Wisconsin's Iowa County Uplands. Our story began with a vision - to grow and produce exceptional wines using only the highest quality grapes cultivated on our own rolling hills. This commitment to vine-to-bottle began long before the farm-to-table movement gained widespread recognition, and it remains the cornerstone of our winemaking philosophy.

Estate-Grown Wines of Distinction

We pride ourselves on cultivating our own estate vineyards, encompassing a variety of French-hybrid grape varieties perfectly suited to our region's climate. These resilient grapes, such as Marechal Foch and Leon Millot, produce wines that are truly distinctive to Wisconsin. Their fruit-forward character, earthy notes, and robust structure embody the unique essence of our local terroir. While our estate vineyards focus on red wine varietals, we carefully source our white wine grapes from the renowned Finger Lakes Region of New York.

This deliberate choice ensures that our white wines, crafted from exceptional varietals like Vidal Blanc, Seyval Blanc, and Geisenheim, remain true to the highest standards of quality while showcasing the elegance and finesse that characterize our local winemaking traditions. Every drop of Botham wine is skillfully produced on-site, from the initial harvest to the final bottling, guaranteeing complete control over the entire winemaking journey.
