Our Story

Our journey began in 1940 when Charles A. Smith, Sr. founded Smith Junk and Salvage. The original location was on East Cary Street in Richmond, Virginia. As the company grew, we expanded our services and upgraded our equipment to meet the evolving needs of our customers. In 1965, we officially changed our name to Smith Iron & Metal Co., Inc.
