At Elliott Environmental Consulting (EEC), we are dedicated to integrating species conservation into the project planning process for land owners and land managers. Our goal is to provide accurate and relevant biological data to project planners in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Our area of expertise lies in the biological sciences, and we offer a variety of services related to biological issues. These include wildlife and botanical survey and inventory, threatened and endangered species, rare species, invasive species and noxious weeds, and vegetation monitoring. We also provide regulatory assistance with the Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance, biological assessments, biological evaluations, noxious weed risk assessments, and timber harvest plans.
Our Team
Brian Elliott, one of our key team members, has had a lifetime interest in botany, ethnobotany, and the ecology and flora of western North America. He has earned undergraduate degrees in plant science and philosophy at the University of Idaho, as well as a master's degree in botany at the University of Wyoming. His master's thesis was a floristic inventory of south-central Colorado, focusing on plants of conservation and management concern. Prior to forming EEC, Brian worked as a botanist for both the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service. In the course of his career, he has written over 150 biological assessments, biological evaluations, and technical or survey reports for rare plants and non-native invasive species. He has also performed over 175 field botanical surveys in support of a variety of proposed projects.
Emily Elliott, our President, has previously worked on the Pike and San Isabel National Forests implementing vegetation monitoring protocols and with the Colorado Natural Heritage Program performing rare plant surveys. She has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Rangeland Ecology from Colorado State University and a Master's degree in Botany from the University of Wyoming. Her Master's research was a floristic inventory of southwestern Montana and adjacent Wyoming. As President, Emily manages the daily activities of EEC and has extensive experience designing and implementing vegetation monitoring protocols.
Services Offered
Our services include:
1. Wildlife and Botanical Survey and Inventory: We conduct thorough surveys and inventories to identify and document the presence of wildlife and plant species on a project site. This information is essential for project planning and environmental compliance.
2. Threatened and Endangered Species: We provide expertise in identifying and managing threatened and endangered species, ensuring that project activities do not harm these species or their habitats.
3. Rare Species: We identify and manage rare species, ensuring that project activities do not harm these species or their habitats.
4. Invasive Species and Noxious Weeds: We identify and manage invasive species and noxious weeds, providing strategies for their control and eradication.
5. Vegetation Monitoring: We design and implement vegetation monitoring protocols to track changes in vegetation over time, providing essential data for project management and environmental compliance.
6. Regulatory Assistance: We provide assistance with compliance under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), as well as other relevant environmental regulations.
7. Biological Assessments and Evaluations: We prepare biological assessments and evaluations to support project planning and environmental compliance.
8. Noxious Weed Risk Assessments: We assess the risk of noxious weeds on project sites and develop strategies for their control and eradication.
