Overview
Manitoba Corporation has been a cornerstone of the recycling industry for over a century. Our story began in 1916 in Buffalo, New York, with a European immigrant named Solomon Shine who, driven by hardship and entrepreneurial spirit, started collecting rags, waste paper, and metals door-to-door with a humble pushcart. His relentless dedication and long hours eventually allowed him to expand, purchasing a horse and wagon to haul larger quantities and ultimately a small shop to handle the merchandise of other peddlers.
As the world shifted, so did Manitoba Corporation. Following World War II, the rise of synthetic fabrics like nylon, dacron, and rayon diminished the demand for recycled rags and paper. Wisely, Solomon and his son, Nathan, recognized this changing landscape and gradually transitioned the business towards metal recycling, a burgeoning industry that offered greater opportunities.
Today, Manitoba Corporation stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Solomon Shine's vision and hard work. Now operating under the leadership of the third and fourth generations of the family, alongside a dedicated team who have joined us over the past nine decades, we continue to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing demands of the recycling sector. Our expertise lies in the processing of every kind of non-ferrous scrap metal imaginable.
Our Services
At the heart of our success lies our comprehensive suite of services, meticulously designed to meet the diverse needs of our customers. Our state-of-the-art recycling plant, located in Lancaster, New York, just east of Buffalo, boasts an extensive collection of cutting-edge equipment. We utilize shears, chopping lines, briquetting presses, wire burning incinerators, a small arms ammunition popping oven, and an array of other specialized machinery to transform bulk metal shipments into manageable, easily handled packages. These packages often include chopped, flaked, shot, or powdered metals, carefully packaged in paper and cloth bags, as well as plastic or metal pails and drums. This meticulous preparation facilitates alloying and handling for our customers, ensuring maximum efficiency and convenience.
Beyond processing, we also offer comprehensive dismantling and de-manufacturing services, catering to diverse industrial needs. We expertly dismantle medical equipment, including MRI machines and X-ray equipment, as well as a wide range of other industrial contraptions. Our capabilities extend to reducing the size of bulk shipments, processing copper and nickel cathodes, and packaging various metals like copper, zinc, silicon, and iron into smaller, more manageable forms.
Recognizing the cyclical nature of the scrap metal market, we have developed extensive conversion programs, allowing us to offer our customers the flexibility to exchange scrap metals for newly produced metals. This unique service streamlines the process for our clients, fostering sustainable practices within the industry.
