Our History
Jomeokee Campground was established in 1970 by Mr. Tom Jones, who converted his Dairy Farm into a campground with over 70 tent camping spots. Lester Flatt purchased the Park in 1974, and improvements included a newer stage and concession stand. Jomeokee Park is a significant part of the area's traditional music history, and some of the best bluegrass acts in the region and country have played here. The Pace Family purchased the Park from Mr. Lester in 1978, and we have owned the Park ever since.
Notable music events and festivals include:
- WTQR Radio Family Reunions '80-'90s (20+K in attendance)
- Jomeokee Bluegrass (Ralph McGee produced these festivals)
- Smilefest Reunion and Jomeokee Music and Arts Festival (Mountain Roots Mgmt.)
- Willie Nelson and Family (Mountain Roots Mgmt.)
- Marine Corps League 5K Mud Run (10+ years and running)
- Jomeokee Marketplace (A pop-up market showcasing local artisans from the Carolina's and Virginia)
