Our Retail Store

Located at 505 North State Street (Route 23) in Marengo, our store has attracted over 7500 visitors since its opening in 2016. With a wide variety of antiques, including advertising, country store, farm, furniture, home, industrial, kitchen, petroliana, photographica, tools, and high-quality small items, we have something for everyone. Our store is open from May through August, 11-5 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; September and October, 11-5 Saturday and Sunday; and November through April, by appointment only.

Our Story

Bulldog Antiques was founded by Chuck Follett of Marengo and Don Rose of Crystal Lake, who have been business partners, co-workers, and friends for over 30 years. Chuck's dream to open an antique shop was inspired by his long-standing passion for collecting pieces. Don, with his strong interest in history and expertise in technology, has a background in graphics and photography, which led him to operate a camera shop featuring collectible photographica. Together, they are bringing their shared love for history and antiques to the community.

Inventory and Pricing

Our store is housed in a beautiful 1919 home on Marengo's main thoroughfare, State Street (Route 23). Each room is meticulously curated with items relevant to its original purpose, creating an immersive experience for our visitors. We take pride in our clean, uncluttered rooms and 'curator style' price tags, which include detailed history for each item. This approach allows our customers to understand the value and significance of the antiques they are interested in purchasing.
