Our Heritage

Founded in 1984, Gruet Winery is a family-owned and operated winery with roots originating from Gilbert Gruet's Champagne house in Bethon, France. With over 35 years of winemaking experience, Gruet Winery specializes in Methode Champenoise sparkling wines and a small collection of still wines. Our winemaking philosophy is deeply rooted in French tradition, while our American adventure has brought a unique twist to our wines.

Our Vineyards

New Mexico is where it all started for Gruet's American venture. Bone-dry sandy soils, high elevations, a dramatic day-to-night temperature swing for great acidity, and a history of monastic winemaking dating back more than 400 years make this a special region. Our vineyards in Engle, New Mexico, are exclusively planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, carefully selected for their unique characteristics and ability to thrive in our region's climate.

Our Methode Champenoise

At Gruet Winery, we are committed to producing high-quality sparkling wines using the traditional Methode Champenoise method. This labor-intensive process involves multiple fermentations, riddling, and hand-disgorging to create a complex and refined sparkling wine. Our Methode Champenoise sparkling wines are known for their crisp acidity, fine bubbles, and flavors of green apple, lemon, and honey.

Our Distributors

Gruet Winery distributes its wines to top restaurants, wine shops, and wine bars across the United States. Our wines are also available for private events and wine tastings. We partner with local distributors to ensure our wines are widely available and easily accessible.
