Our History
Our company's story began in 1977 when Greg L. Ash graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Surveying Engineering. After obtaining his surveying license in 1981, he started his career at Dietrich, Bailey and Associates (DBA) as a surveyor. During his tenure at DBA, he played a crucial role in the Western Township Utility Authority's 21-mile sanitary sewer extension project. This experience honed his skills in surveying and gave him a strong foundation for starting his own company.
In 1993, Ash founded GLA Surveyors & Engineers, starting with just two employees in the attic of the Caviston Agency on Main St. in Plymouth. Over the years, the company grew, building strong relationships with local and state-wide contractors. To better serve our clients and meet the demands of the industry, we established our civil engineering department in 2002.

Communication Issues
Several reviewers have expressed disappointment with the communication style of GLA. Tim Patrick, who gave a 1-star review, reported that he waited for weeks to hear back from them after agreeing to a quote, and then waited another three weeks for a response to his inquiry about the status of the survey. He ultimately had to email them again to cancel the job due to their lack of communication and failure to complete the work.
Positive Experiences
However, several other reviewers had more positive experiences with GLA. Michael Stockman, who gave a 5-star review, praised the company's friendliness and fairness. Joshua Schumacher also gave a 5-star review, citing the company's great service and attention to detail. Stephen Hufnagel reported that GLA did a great job on a survey for his home in Northville.
Red Flags
One red flag mentioned by reviewers is the long wait times for GLA to complete work. Michael Stockman mentioned that their work is backed up 6+ months, and Joshua Schumacher reported that he is on the waiting list. Paul Nowicki's review was unclear, but mentioned "auburn consulting copier repair service and sales", which seems unrelated to the services offered by GLA.
