At Smith and Davis Architects, we are a small architecture firm with a deep passion for creating designs that are simple, timeless, and economical in both design and construction. Located in Barnegat Light on Long Beach Island, NJ, we draw inspiration from the coastal environment that we love and cherish. Our focus is mainly on residential projects, including new constructions and additions, as well as some commercial ventures. We take pride in our ability to engage with clients, shaping their ideas and visions into a reality that meets their goals and expectations.

The Design Process

When you contact us, whether by phone or email, we will arrange an initial consultation at the project address. This consultation is at no cost and provides an opportunity for you to describe what you wish to achieve with your project. It's helpful to have a site survey, a list of spaces you want to add or address, and old architectural drawings if this is an addition to an existing home. After the consultation, we will come up with a project proposal contract outlining your project, the phases of design services, and the cost for our services. If you decide to proceed, the proposal is signed, and the exciting part begins. For additions, we start with a measure of the existing structure, moving on to preliminary design drawings of floor plans and elevations, which we review with you to see what changes, if any, you would like to make. This process continues through the design development phase, fine-tuning the changes into design development drawings, which will guide us into the final construction documents.
