The Sewing Machine Exchange is a family-owned business that has been serving the sewing community for over three decades. Our story began in 2007 when Tyler Stanley, our owner and technician, started Sew Portland on Warren Ave in Portland, Maine. Tyler's mom, Kathy Stanley, owned Sew Portland and also operated Sewing by the Sea in Trenton, Maine, which has been serving sewing enthusiasts in Downeast Maine since 1994. After Sew Portland closed its doors, Tyler opened The Sewing Machine Exchange in a small location on Route One in Falmouth in the winter of 2016. We started mainly as a repair shop, but our customer base grew quickly, and so did our sales of new sewing machines.

We are an authorized sales and service center for PFAFF, Husqvarna Viking, and Singer sewing machines and sergers. Our experienced technicians can repair most makes and models of home sewing machines and sergers.
