At Caregiver Companion, we are a network of interfaith volunteers committed to improving the quality of life in the homes of our elderly and disabled neighbors, as well as their caregivers. Our mission is to provide non-medical supplemental volunteer support to help relieve the pressure that often comes with being a caregiver. We believe in showing God's compassion and love to those who need a helping hand, and our goal is to improve the quality of life for our elderly and disabled neighbors and their caregivers.
Our History
Our beloved founder, Sr. Veronica Baumgartner, CSJ, founded Caregiver Companion in Lafayette, Indiana in 1995 with the support of her community of the Congregation of St. Joseph. Her vision was to show God's compassion and love to caregivers, the aged, and disabled through a local outreach ministry. With the help of the community, Caregiver Companion grew, and in 1999, Sister Veronica hired full-time staff. Today, we operate as our own 501(C) 3, committed to continuing her legacy of servitude, compassion, and care for our dear neighbors.
Our Services
We offer a range of non-medical services to support our elderly and disabled neighbors and their caregivers. Our volunteers provide respite, companionship, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, transportation, and other practical assistance to help make life easier. We understand the challenges that come with caregiving, and our goal is to provide a helping hand to those who need it most. Whether you are a caregiver searching for a refreshing break or an elderly or frail individual in need of non-medical assistance, we are here to help.
How We Can Help
If you are a caregiver searching for a refreshing break (respite) or an elderly or frail individual in need of non-medical assistance, we would be happy to schedule an assessment and see how we can best serve you in your home. Our network of volunteers are caring and compassionate members of your community who are happy to come alongside you in simple and practical ways. We also offer opportunities for volunteers to get involved and make a difference in the lives of our elderly and disabled neighbors.
Supporting Our Cause
We rely on the generosity of our donors to continue our mission. Without your support, we lack the resources to reach the lonely, frail, and disabled in our community. Your donation can help us provide non-medical services to those who need it most. We also appreciate your time and talent as a volunteer. Whether you can spare an hour or a day, every little bit counts.
