• Eye Resources: We provide various resources to help you learn more about eye health, including cataract surgery, eye exams, how the eye works, interactive eye introduction, multifocal intraocular lens implants, contact lenses, orthokeratology, the right age for contacts, types of contact lenses, blue light and eye health, eyeglass frame materials, high definition lenses, no glare lenses, progressive lenses, proper lens care instructions, protective eyewear, reduce digital eye strain, scratch protection sunglasses, thinner and lighter lenses, eye & health disease, blepharitis, cataracts, conjunctivitis, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, eye allergies, glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachments, and vision therapy.

Meet Our Team

Dr. Brent D. Schmidlap has been in practice for over 23 years. He first received a B.S. degree in Biology at Abilene Christian University. He went on to graduate from the Indiana University school of Optometry. He completed an internship in ocular disease at Omni Eye Center of Atlanta, as well as internships in primary care and contact lenses at Keesler AFB Medical Center and Lackland AFB. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. Dr. Schmidlap has been practicing in Rockwall since 2003 and has been actively involved in providing care for the Helping Hands clinic in Rockwall and the Sight for Students program.

Our staff includes three individuals with over 40 years of combined experience in patient care. They are dedicated to providing the best individual care to everyone we see at RPE.

What to Expect

The best way to protect your vision is to have a yearly comprehensive eye exam. When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted with friendly faces. Each eye exam will use the latest state-of-the-art technology to assess your eye health. The doctor will inspect your eyes, answer any questions, and discuss your eye care treatment options.
