Change your life. Find your balance.
Nexus Point is a practice whose purpose is to help clients find ways to connect their higher self and goals with where they currently exist. This is accomplished by introducing tools and techniques that can enlighten, educate, entertain, and elucidate a path toward a successful and joyous life. Jennifer Gebhard, the founder, has been helping the community of Long Island, New York, to heal in both mind and body for over twenty years. Working at the Nexus Point of conventional medicine and holistic arts, Jennifer strives to bring balance, health, and happiness to others.
Jennifer's journey in the medical profession spans over forty years, starting as a Registered Nurse (RN) and later becoming an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She also holds certifications as an Advanced Holistic Nurse and a NYS Holistic Nurse Practitioner. Alongside her nursing career, Jennifer has developed expertise in holistic practices such as Massage therapy, Reiki, Cranio-sacral therapy, and herbalism. Her passion for herbalism led her to become a Registered Herbalist with the American Herbalist Guild (RH-AHG). Jennifer's kitchen is always filled with drying herbs, homemade tinctures, and essential oils, reflecting her dedication to natural healing methods.
The practice of Functional Medicine, pioneered by Dr. Jeffrey Bland in 1990, is a significant part of Nexus Point's approach. It focuses on optimal functioning of the body and its organs, addressing the root causes of disease through a systems biology-based approach. This involves identifying and addressing the interrelated factors contributing to an individual's illness, often through detailed discussions about personal and family history, first symptoms, and previous healthcare experiences.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine is a medical practice or treatments that focus on optimal functioning of the body and its organs. It involves systems of holistic or alternative medicine, treating the individual rather than the disease. This approach considers how interrelated every part of the body is, aiming to identify and address the root causes of disease. It's a process of connecting the dots to symptomology, requiring detailed discussions about personal and family history, first symptoms, and previous healthcare experiences.
