Founded in 1923, Seaside Golf Club has been a staple of the Oregon coast for nearly a century. Set on 125 acres of lush greenery and rolling hills, our 9-hole public golf course offers a challenging and enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. In the Beginning

Designed by Chandler Egan, a 1904 summer games Olympic gold-medal winner in golf, Seaside Golf Course opened its doors on July 4, 1923. Egan was a celebrated figure in the golf world, having designed award-winning courses from Pebble Beach to Seattle. On opening day, Oregon's state champion Clare Griswold and Rudolph Wilhelm, both of the Portland Golf Club, defeated O.F. Willing of Waverly Country Club and John Rebstock of Portland "1-up." The Seaside Signal reported that "some very good golf was played, with four birdies negotiated and a number of holes brilliantly played."

Taking Care of Business

Charlie Cartwright II bought the course in 1931 and maintained it for several decades. He built the Par-Tee Room and Lounge extension in 1954, adding to the course's charm and character. In 1971, Fred Fulmer Jr. purchased the course, and his family took over the business. Daughter Vickie sold the course to long-time local residents Phil Warmbrodt and Cassie Sweeny in 2016. Over the next seven years, Phil and Cassie poured their hearts and resources into remodeling and updating the golf course, ensuring that it remained not only a destination for golfers but also a well-known establishment in Seaside's community.

Today and the Future

In July 2023, a new chapter began as Patrick Wood, grandson of Charlie Cartwright II, assumed ownership of the course alongside his wife, Linata. With deep roots in Seaside's history and a profound respect for the legacy of the course, Patrick and Linata are committed to preserving the course's rich heritage while continuing to innovate and improve.
