The Agricultural History Project (AHP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich agricultural heritage of the Central Coast of California. Located in Watsonville, we have been educating the community for over 30 years through our engaging exhibits, educational programs, andoutreach efforts.
Our Facility
Our facility spans over 20,640 square feet and houses four exhibit buildings, showcasing the agricultural history of the Central Coast. The exhibits are constructed and maintained primarily by volunteers, who also work on the ongoing equipment renovation that you may see in progress during your visit. At our facility, you will discover the rich agricultural history of the region, focusing on the northernmost counties of Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz. We feature artifacts and exhibits that reflect various industries, including beef and dairy cattle, chickens, goats and other farm animals, fruits, vegetables, flowers, mushrooms, and other unique crops.

Our exhibits are designed to engage and educate visitors of all ages. As you journey through our buildings, you will learn about the crops, people, and farming practices that have made the Central Coast of California what it is today. Here are some highlights of what you will find:
1. Beef and Dairy Cattle: Discover the history of cattle ranching and dairy farming in the region, and learn about the evolution of techniques and equipment used in these industries.
2. Poultry and Small Animals: Explore the role of chickens, goats, and other small animals in local agriculture, and learn about their importance in the development of sustainable farming practices.
3. Fruits, Vegetables, and Flowers: Delve into the diverse world of fruit, vegetable, and flower production on the Central Coast, from potatoes and wheat to lettuce and strawberries.
4. Mushrooms and Other Unique Crops: Discover the unique crops that have been grown in the region, including mushrooms, and learn about their significance in the local agricultural landscape.
Visit Us
We invite you to visit our facility and explore our exhibits. We are open EVERY second Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM for 2nd Saturday on the Farm. Additionally, we are open for appointments Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Group tours can be arranged in advance by appointment. Facilities are handicapped accessible, and parking is always free.
