Our History

Selective Sound Events was founded in 1987 by Jeremy "Jay R" Rich, who initially started the company as Music in Motion. With a loan from his parents, Jay R purchased his first DJ system and began DJing school dances. Two years later, he began working every weekend doing both dances and private events, and the company name was changed to Selective Sound Entertainment.

After graduating high school, Jay R began working part-time for Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. During this time, he was able to learn from the strengths and weaknesses of many event DJs who came through those doors. In 2010, SSE partnered with Rock The House, further expanding our capabilities and services.
