Strengthening Access to Justice for All

Mission and Values

The Equal Justice Wyoming Foundation strengthens and defends access to justice and civil legal services in Wyoming through fundraising and other supportive activities. We operate on the guiding principle that every individual, regardless of their financial means, deserves full and equal access to justice.

What We Do

We support access to justice for low-income individuals through two primary initiatives:

1. Grant Programs

  • We award grants to qualified non-profit organizations for programs that provide civil legal services to low-income individuals in Wyoming.
  • We currently invite applications for the FY 2025-2026 grant cycle, closing on April 30, 2024.

2. Interest on Lawyers' Trust Accounts (IOLTA)

  • IOLTA is a method for attorneys to contribute unused client funds to support access to justice.
  • When funds held in attorney trust accounts cannot earn interest at a market rate, those funds can be deposited into the IOLTA program and the interest earned is used to fund legal aid services.
