Welcome to A-1 Defensive Driving School of VA, the oldest and #1 rated DMV Driver Improvement Course in Charlottesville, VA. Since 1994, we've been dedicated to helping individuals improve their driving records and become safer drivers. Our course covers a wide range of topics including laws of the road, emergency braking and steering, alcohol and drugs, night driving, adverse weather, and communication. Through the use of videos, workbook exercises, lecture, and general discussion, our goal is to provide a unique learning experience that makes driving safer and more responsible. We pride ourselves on our clean and comfortable classroom with regular breaks, ensuring that our students have a positive and engaging experience.

Upcoming Class Dates

We offer driver improvement classes once a month in Charlottesville, VA on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The next class dates are as follows: Saturday, June 15, 2024; Saturday, July 20, 2024; Saturday, August 17, 2024; and Saturday, September 21, 2024. Each class is held at the Sleep Inn & Suites, located at 1185 5th St SW, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

Open Door Policy

We have an open door policy, which means you can either register online or simply show up for class and bring $75.00 CASH along with a valid official photo ID. This flexibility allows you to sign up at the last minute if needed. We ensure that our doors will be open on your chosen class date, as we have only cancelled a class once in our 25+ years of operation due to snow.
